This hotel has everything you might need as a first-timer in New York. It has spacious and cozy rooms, equipped with everything you need and more, such as an empty fridge for your drinks and food, a good hair dryer, clothes iron, and even a sleeping machine with white noise or animal sounds if you need a bit of help to fall asleep. Knowing that I have an iron and an ironing board in the room really helped me relax while packing for my trip. We also had a big umbrella in the closet, as well as super comfy bathrobes and slippers. The view from our room was stunning, and there wasn't much noise, just an occasional siren which was muffled and didn't bother us while we relaxed or slept. We also couldn't hear any of the neighbors! They also provided us with a free Nespresso machine, tea, and coffee pods. The staff was super polite and helpful; they really offered help and went out of their way to let us know we could ask for everything we might need. Such an atmosphere really helped us relax! From the reception, doormen, bartenders, cleaners, and waiters at the bar - everyone was super nice. The location is one of the best in town - you have Times Square and metro stations just a couple minutes away, a 24h open CVS, Whole Foods, Joe's Pizza, Broadway theaters, Bryant Park, and so much more just a couple of steps away from the hotel. The public Library, Summit One Vanderbilt, and Grand Central Station are also very easy and close to walk to. We appreciated the happy hour with a free Aperol spritz every day from 4-6 PM, and it was super refreshing after our busy day of exploring. We also had the opportunity to dine at the AperiBar, and needless to say, the food was fantastic. We had oysters, a pizza, and a steak; everything was heavenly. Their cocktails are also fabulous. We'd absolutely recommend LUMA to everyone who is coming to NY for the first time and wants to have a perfect, smooth base for exploring.

The staff is truly exceptional and helpful handling our group's needs and making recommendations. We were a family of 7 with half visiting NYC for the first time from out of state and stayed for two nights, so the rooms with double queen beds were a must and easy for sharing with family; It was rainy during our stay so the staff's help with umbrellas and grabbing taxis for our group was appreciated and made our starts less stressful. So were last minute reservations for dinner at the hotel our last night. We were too tired to go anywhere else after exploring central park and 6-hrs at the museum of Natural History (and too late for reservations ) and the meal we had at the hotel was one of our favorites all week (we had antipasti, pulpo, pastas, pizzas and Italian wines oh and the gelato dessert (starts with a Z) was the group's favorite with saffron-honey and biscotti crumbles). We walked from Grand Central with our carry-on's upon our arrival (easy for active group) but because of the rain, we taxi'd when we left. The location is on the edge of Bryant Park which has public tables and seating so we grabbed bagels from Zucker's Bagels (steps from hotel and across from Bryant park) one morning and enjoyed breakfast in the park. Also a Whole Foods is conveniently across the street.

Great hotel in a central location, so easy to get around. Staff were super welcoming and friendly and always had time for a chat. The restaurant is small but food and atmosphere is very good and the staff really nice, always book your table. The room was clean, air conditioning was nice and needed as 85 outside when we were staying! The only problem was the bar was always very busy especially during happy hours in the evening when it seemed a lot of non residents decided to partake, so no space to sit and enjoy it. Otherwise a good choice for central NY.

Hotel room was not big but it is New York, but it held three of us and it worked ok. They have thought of a few space saving designs which helped. Lots of usb plugs in the room for charging including beside the bed. The shower was fab. Room has a big golf umbrella in the wardrobe to borrow which we needed and was a great wee touch Reception staff were always helpful and friendly. A few steps away from times square in one direction and byrant park in the other. Very central and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go so very central.

What a lovely hotel, the rooms are well equipped, a huge comfy bed (in uk standards), towels changed daily if needed, nespresso machine, laundry service (if needed). The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough for you! The location was perfect just a 5 minute walk to times square, despite it being so close the hotel was so quiet. Bryant park is literally next door where there are a number of cafes/eateries. A health food shop on the corner where you can get pastries, upstairs there is a buffet style salad/hot food bar to take away.
